Vast and ever-expanding as it is, the banking sector offers employees stability, individual growth and decent salaries. No wonder it is a popular choice of young job seekers in India. Entrance exams for the posts of PO/ SO and clerks are conducted mainly by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and the State Bank of India (SBI).
The IBPS is governed by a board consisting of members from the RBI, IITs, private banks, financial institutions and the Government of India. These exams are conducted throughout the year for different positions.
The IBPS conducts a common written exam to fill positions of clerks, POs, SOs and management trainees in different banks every year. To fill these positions, the IBPS conducts exams in three phases, the prelims, the mains and the interview.
One has to clear both the preliminary and the main examination to be shortlisted for the interview. One has to clear all the phases to qualify for recruitment by the organisations. After successfully clearing the exam, one can get an appointment in any of the participating banks.
Participants have to answer multiple-choice questions on general awareness, reasoning, English language, quantitative aptitude, computer knowledge, etc. Participants preparing for the IBPS exams have dedicated coaching centers across the country. These centres help you crack the exams by providing you with the much-needed guidance and study material.
A candidate should keep checking the dates, eligibility and syllabus before preparing for bank exams. The IBPS issues employment notifications for conducting of these examinations. For 2017, the IBPS will be conducted online, and the application would also be filled online.
