Books33, the world’s first eco-friendly book publisher, celebrated Mother’s Day with the launch of its five books at Goethe Insitut, Mumbai on Sunday May 8th in a very stimulating and fun-filled event.
As the Book Launch celebrated Mother’s Day, it was only befitting to release a book paying tribute to motherhood through a beautiful anthology of writings, including poems, short stories and retelling of ancient tales, entitled ‘Love you Mom’.
There were two books by award-winning children’s author Katie Bagli whose love for nature and its creatures needs no introduction – ‘The Insect Concert’ & ‘A Wormy Tale’.
The launch also included ‘Chimpu’s New Friend’ & ‘Kyra’s Return Flight’ by Dr. Monica Khanna, whose books deal with human emotions and sensitize children into embracing themselves and others.
The Chief Guest for the event, eminent author Jane Borges whose book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ recently made waves for its highly acclaimed cinematic version ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, shared her own introduction to reading and how it transformed her life and her perspective of the world, giving birth to the dormant writer within who was waiting to be discovered.
The Guest of Honour, Rati Dady Wadia, former Principal of Queen Mary’s School, greatly loved by her students and colleagues, spoke of the need for parents and educators to focus on introducing children to books, and also sensitizing them to the importance of taking care of the environment and planet they inhabit.
The Book Launch was followed by exciting, interactive activities, songs and games, wherein not only children, but also adults, participated with great zest and enthusiasm, shedding their masks and inhibitions, and reliving the innocence of their childhood. Giving mothers and children an opportunity to bond over books, the launch was the perfect Mother’s Day celebration.
