‘Bhoomi Vishnu’s Amma’ is one of the 17 storybooks in ‘The Grandma Earth Series’, conceptualized and developed by Prof (Dr) Shalini Verma ‘Lifoholic’ – Founder of Samvaw Foundation and published by Books33 (A Unit of Aadya Green Gifting Pvt. Ltd.).
The Grandma Earth Series has been highly appreciated by one and all – celebrities, social entrepreneurs, impact champions, civil societies & NGOs, academicians, parents and teachers. Pheroza J. Godrej – Chairperson – Godrej Archives Council & Godrej Mangroves and Executive Board Member – Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development International Advisory Council – says, “What a wonderful idea it is to embark on a venture of creating 17 different stories, each story book crafted to be based on one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations! This brilliant endeavour by the publishers – Books33 and SAMVAW Foundation – to implant the seeds of sustainable living in young, tender minds …”.
On the other hand, Martina Scharnweber Lehrerin, Deutschland (School Teacher, Germany), says “The books offer a wide-open, clear, child-friendly style and are suitable for kindergarten/school areas as an introduction to a contemporary topic as well as for educational reading aloud in the family”.
The objective of this series is to make young children in the age group of 3-8 years aware about the Mission LiFE & 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As recommended by NEP 2020, STORYTELLING pedagogy has been adopted throughout this series “to engage and strengthen the Foundational Learning of the children of the age group 3-8 years going to Anganwadi/pre-school/Balvatika or class 1 & 2 of regular schools”.
Written by Pooja Gupta Mahurkar, illustrated by Ganesh Mhatre and designed by Shamim Nida, ‘Bhoomi Vishnu’s Amma’ is based on SDG 8 – ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’ that revolves around the protagonist – Bhoomi and her transformative journey from a ‘struggling bank employee’ to an ‘accomplished mother and star bank employee’.
In the heartening words of Sanjukta Wagh – Multidisciplinary Artiste & Founder-Director of Beej, Mumbai, “The story of Bhoomi, Bansi and Anil holds hope and speaks of individual and collective acts of kindness, speaking up for each other and allowing power structures to topple for the greater human good. The book ‘Bhoomi Vishnu’s Amma’ celebrates empathy and cooperation and allows entries into worlds of lack and illness.
