‘I See Tigers’ is one of the 17 storybooks in ‘The Grandma Earth Series’, conceptualized and developed by Prof (Dr) Shalini Verma ‘Lifoholic’ – Founder of Samvaw Foundation and published by Books33 (A Unit of Aadya Green Gifting Pvt. Ltd.).
The Grandma Earth Series has been highly appreciated by one and all – celebrities, social entrepreneurs, impact champions, civil societies & NGOs, academicians, parents and teachers. Pheroza J. Godrej – Chairperson – Godrej Archives Council & Godrej Mangroves and Executive Board Member – Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development International Advisory Council – says, “What a wonderful idea it is to embark on a venture of creating 17 different stories, each story book crafted to be based on one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations! This brilliant endeavour by the publishers – Books33 and SAMVAW Foundation – to implant the seeds of sustainable living in young, tender minds …”.
On the other hand, Shubhda Vaid – Author, Entrepreneur & Life-coach, says “The whole series is fluid, simple and engages young readers’ mind in Aadya’s and her friends’ inquisitive interactions with Chumchumwalla while subtly conveying the importance of preserving our eco-system, values and community living.”. In the words of Dr. Snehal Padhye – Director – Technical Strategy, Crown Biosciences, “The moral of each story is very pertinent and deeply rooted in our all-inclusive culture and the theme of India’s G20 presidency “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, that translates to “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” Indeed, a fun read for one and all!
The objective of this series is to make young children in the age group of 3-8 years aware about the Mission LiFE & 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As recommended by NEP 2020, STORYTELLING pedagogy has been adopted throughout this series “to engage and strengthen the Foundational Learning of the children of the age group 3-8 years going to Anganwadi/pre-school/Balvatika or class 1 & 2 of regular schools”.
Written by Pooja Gupta Mahurkar, illustrated by Ganesh Mhatre and designed by Shamim Nida, ‘I See Tigers’ is based on SDG 4 – ‘Quality Education’. The story revolves around an inquisitive nine-year old Ramprasad and his teacher Gopal Sir who take an explorative journey outside their classroom and the pages of their textbook, into the world of flora and fauna to satiate their quest of learning.
In the encouraging words of Dr. Venkatesh Murthy – Associate Professor, School of Management & Entrepreneurship, IIT Jodhpur, “Pooja’s book ‘I See Tigers’ takes the readers into the delightful world of Gompa village. As we delve into the world of Gompa village, we are reminded of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) of Quality Education. The story exemplifies how quality education is not confined to textbooks and formal settings alone but extends to the exploration of the world around us, nurturing curiosity and celebrating our own rich heritage.”
