RRB JE 2019 aims to fill 13,487 vacancies for junior engineers, junior engineers (IT), depot material superintendents, and chemical & metallurgical superintendents
Railways did the recruitment for Junior engineer and Sr Section engineer in 2015 and the engineering aspirants were desperately waiting to see a notification for RRB JE 2019. Somehow, an internal railway document found its way to social media. Later, Indian Railways released a notification for Junior Engineer posts on January 2, 2019, and RRB JE 2019 online applications began to be filled the same day.
RRB JE 2019 aims to fill 13,487 vacancies for junior engineers, junior engineers (IT), depot material superintendents, and chemical & metallurgical superintendents.
According to the RRB JE 2019 notification, there is a total of 12,844 vacant positions for junior engineers, 29 for junior engineers (information technology) and 227 for deport material superintendents (DMS), and 387 chemical & metallurgical superintendents (CMS).
Eligibility Criteria: For RRB JE 2019, candidates in the age group of 18-32 years having diploma engineer or qualification above this could apply. More detailed eligibility criteria was released together with the notification
Selection: The RRB JE 2019 selection will be done on the basis of a performance in a computer-based test followed by document verification. Online applications can be filled till January 31, 2019, and the RRB JE 2019 exam will be conducted in April-May 2019.
Application fee: Application fee for all categories under RRB JE 2019 is likely to be Rs 500 for all categories except Ex-Serviceman / SC / ST / PWD / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically backward class for whom it will be Rs 250.
Exam Pattern: The RRB JE 2019 exam pattern includes questions from each of the engineering disciplines:
- Objective Type MCQs
- General Intelligence and Reasoning (30), General Awareness and General Science (30),All engineering disciplines (90)
- CBT of 2hours
- 1/3 negative marks
Till 2014, Indian Railways used to have discipline-specific questions in the technical section but in 2015 it changed to a common paper for technical subjects and included questions from all disciplines. For this reason, RRB JE 2019 aspirants need to study basics of all branches of engineering. The questions, though of basic nature, don’t require analytical thinking and can be answered easily.
